The first recipe for this site is definitely the moist chocolate cake recipe that everyone absolutely loves. Now, moist chocolate cakes are very different from just plain chocolate cake because it tends to be denser, richer and definitely has more chocolate than you could ever hope for!

Moist Chocolate Cake Recipe

chocolate cake

These are the ingredients you will need:

1 1/2 cups flour, sifted

1/2 cup cocoa powder, sifted

1 tsp baking soda

1 cup brown sugar

1 tsp vanilla essence

1 tsp salt

5 tbsp vegetable oil (for healthier option, use olive oil)

1 tbsp white vinegar

1 cup water

Follow these instructions to create a perfectly moist chocolate cake:

Firstly, you will need to preheat your oven to about 350F. Then, you sift the flour into a large mixing bowl. After that, you sift in the cocoa powder and baking soda. Then, you mix in the sugar and salt. Use a large wooden spoon to stir and mix the ingredients well.

Now, using the wooden spoon, make three deep wells in the flour mixture. In the first well, pour in the oil while in the second well, you pour in the vinegar and finally, in the third well, you pour in the vanilla essence. You have the option to mix it all together now but if not, you can pour in the water, anywhere, into the whole bowl.  Use your wooden spoon to mix the wet and dry ingredients thoroughly.

To save time, you can always use a stand mixer or a hand mixer to blend all of it together until you get a smooth, creamy concoction. Make very sure that there are no lumps. Then you pour it into a two-inch deep, 9in x 9in, baking pan. You don’t need to grease the baking pan as it contains enough oil not to stick to the pan.

Then you bake the cake at 350F for about 30 minutes. You will know it is done when you test it with a skewer by inserting it in the middle of the cake. If it comes out clean, the cake is done but if it comes out with some stickiness on it, then you will need to bake the cake further.

Once it is done, remove and leave it to cool for several minutes in the pan. After that, turn it out on a wire rack to cool completely. This cake is extremely moist and rich (that’s why it is the ultimate in moist chocolate cake!) so I am sure it will turn out great as cupcakes too if you want.
